Tampa Garage Door Repairs
Broken springs, dead openers and doors stuck half open — diagnosed free and priced before we touch a thing.

We'll call you within one business day. If it's urgent — storm damage, a door off the track — call 813-000-0000 and we'll move you up.

Every job starts with a free diagnosis and a flat written price. That number does not move once you approve it — if we find something else, we stop and call you before doing anything that changes it.

Straight, quiet and balanced
Drag the handle. A properly balanced door should hold position halfway when you disconnect the opener, and travel its whole run without a sound worth noticing.
The balance test, in ten seconds
This is the single most useful thing you can check yourself, and it predicts spring failure before it happens. Do it with the door closed and nobody underneath.
- 01Pull the releaseWith the door shut, pull the red cord to disconnect the opener. The door is now on the springs alone.
- 02Lift to waist heightIt should feel like 8 to 10 pounds. If it fights you hard, the springs are already weak.
- 03Let go carefullyA balanced door stays put. If it slams down or shoots up, the spring tension is wrong.
- 04Re-engage before useReconnect the trolley before running the opener again, or it will run without moving the door.
How a call goes
From phone call to working door
Four steps, and most repairs finish inside the first visit.

Describe the symptom
Tell us the noise and what the door does. Six symptoms cover most calls, so we can usually name the likely part before we leave the shop and load it on the truck.
Phone diagnosis, free
Free on-site diagnosis
We test the balance, check the springs, cables, rollers and sensors, and run the door through a full cycle. Then you get a flat written price. No charge whether you proceed or not.
Usually within hours
The repair
Parts for the six common faults are on the truck, so most jobs are done on the first visit. Springs go in as matched pairs and the door is rebalanced before we call it finished.
60–120 min typical
Test and hand over
We cycle the door with you watching, check the auto-reverse against an obstruction, show you the balance test, and leave the old parts if you want to see them.

What we do differently
Garage door repair has a reputation problem, and it is earned. Here is how we work, including the parts that cost us money.
Springs go in as pairs
Both springs on a door are the same age and have run the same number of cycles. Replacing only the broken one means the second fails within about a year, and you pay a second call-out. We quote the pair and explain why.
We will tell you it is free
A door that reverses before closing is usually dirty or misaligned sensors. That is a wipe with a cloth. We say so on the phone, and we have talked plenty of people out of a service call entirely.
No pressure to replace the door
A new door is a five-figure-adjacent decision and a repair is often a couple of hundred dollars. Unless the door is genuinely past economical repair, we quote the repair and leave it there.
Cycle-rated parts, not builder grade
Builder-grade springs are rated for around 10,000 cycles. We fit 20,000-cycle springs as standard because the price difference is small and it roughly doubles the interval before you see us again.
We show you the old parts
Every part we take off stays on site unless you want it gone. If we say a gear was stripped, you can look at the stripped gear. It is a low bar and this trade routinely fails to clear it.
Straight talk on wind ratings
Most Tampa garage doors are the weakest point on the house in a storm. We will tell you honestly whether yours is rated, what a rated replacement costs, and whether bracing is a sensible middle option.
Who turns up
The people at your door
Not a franchise dispatch network. The people who answer the phone are the people who do the work.

Add a real name and a line about how long they have been doing this. Specific beats vague every time — "eleven years, mostly springs and openers" earns more trust than any adjective.

Replace with a real crew member. Mention a certification or the brands they know best if there is one worth naming.

Replace with a real crew member. New door and opener installs are the natural specialism to mention here.
Reviews
What Tampa homeowners say

Spring went at 6am with my car locked in and I had a flight. They were out by nine, did both springs, and explained why doing one would have me calling again next year. Priced what they said on the phone.

Called about a noisy opener expecting a sales pitch for a new one. He lubricated the rollers, showed me the gear was still fine, and charged me for the service call only. Called them back six months later for the actual replacement.

Insurance wanted a wind-rated door after the last storm. They walked me through what was actually required versus what was upselling, and the paperwork went through with no argument. Door is quieter than the old one too.

Questions
Garage door repair FAQs
Most repairs land between $95 and $400. A single torsion spring is $185 to $265 and a matched pair $285 to $395. Cables run $135 to $195, a set of rollers $120 to $230, and opener gear kits $145 to $265. The diagnosis is free, so you get a firm number before committing to anything.
Usually yes. We hold slots each day for same-day work because a garage door failure often means a car is trapped or a house is standing open. Emergencies get triaged ahead of routine jobs, so say so when you call if your door is stuck open or your vehicle is stuck inside.
Because it is the part doing all the work. Springs counterbalance a 150 to 400 pound door, they store enormous tension, and they need winding bars and real training to replace safely. The part itself is modest; you are paying for the fact that this repair injures people who attempt it untrained.
If your door has two, yes, and we will push back if you ask for just the broken one. Both springs are the same age with the same cycle count, so the survivor typically fails within about a year. Doing the pair now costs less than two separate call-outs.
Usually it is free. That symptom is nearly always the safety sensors near the floor being dirty, knocked out of alignment, or blocked. Wipe both lenses, clear the beam path, and check that both LEDs glow steadily. If that fixes it you owe nobody anything.
Builder-grade springs are rated around 10,000 cycles, which is roughly five to seven years for an average family opening the door four times a day. We fit 20,000-cycle springs as standard, which broadly doubles that. Heavier use shortens it proportionally.
Repair usually wins by a wide margin. Springs, cables, rollers and openers are all serviceable parts on a door that may last twenty-five years. Replacement makes sense when multiple panels are damaged, the door has no wind rating and your insurer wants one, or the frame itself has gone.
Yes, and in Tampa it matters more than most homeowners realise. The garage door is the largest opening on most houses and often the weakest point in a storm. We can tell you whether your current door is rated, what a rated replacement costs, and whether a bracing kit is a sensible middle path.
All the common residential brands including Chamberlain, LiftMaster, Genie, Craftsman, Linear and Wayne Dalton. We carry gear kits and boards for the most frequently seen models, so a lot of opener repairs finish on the first visit rather than waiting on parts.
No. Diagnosis and the safety inspection are free, including the balance test and a full cycle check. You get a flat written price and you are free to think about it, get other quotes, or send us away. There is no call-out fee for routine appointments.
